# Quickstart with Foundry

Deploy a contract to Nagara testnet in a few minutes.

## Prerequisites

* [Foundry](https://getfoundry.sh) installed (follow the install guide, then run `foundryup`)
* A wallet funded with tNGRX from the [faucet](/get-testnet-tokens.md)

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Create a project

```bash
forge init hello-nagara
cd hello-nagara
forge build
```

This scaffolds the sample `Counter` contract. No special compiler settings are needed — Nagara runs the Osaka EVM, so the defaults just work.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add the Nagara networks

Append to `foundry.toml`:

```toml
[rpc_endpoints]
nagara = "https://rpc1.nagara.network"
nagara_testnet = "https://testnet.nagara.network"
```

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Import your deployer key

Store the key in Foundry's encrypted keystore instead of pasting it on the command line:

```bash
cast wallet import deployer --interactive
```

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Deploy

```bash
forge create src/Counter.sol:Counter \
  --rpc-url nagara_testnet \
  --account deployer \
  --broadcast
```

The output includes `Deployed to: 0x…`. Save that address.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Interact with it

```bash
export COUNTER=0x...   # address from the previous step
cast send $COUNTER "setNumber(uint256)" 42 --rpc-url nagara_testnet --account deployer
cast call $COUNTER "number()(uint256)" --rpc-url nagara_testnet   # 42
```

You can also look up the address on the [testnet explorer](https://testnet-explorer.nagara.network).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Using scripts

For multi-step deployments, use a Solidity script as usual:

```bash
forge script script/Counter.s.sol --rpc-url nagara_testnet --account deployer --broadcast
```

## Next steps

* [Verify your contract](/verify-your-contract.md) so others can read the source on the explorer
* Read [Differences from Ethereum](/differences-from-ethereum.md)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.nagara.network/quickstart-with-foundry.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
